Computable - Scense tranforms students laptop into learning device (Dutch)

Deltion College required the 5 A's: anytime, anywhere, any person, any device and any place. All students needed access to the network and needed to be able to access IT recources on their own laptops. Deltion therefore started a seach for a solution to help achieve this goal. It found the Workspace Management solution of Scense to be a good match with the vision of the College.

Alle studenten moesten toegang krijgen tot het netwerk en in staat zijn it-diensten af te nemen op hun eigen laptops. Deltion is daarom op zoek gegaan naar software waarmee ze die filosofie kon verwezenlijken. Het stuitte daarbij op de Workspace Management-oplossing van Scense en stelde vast dat die goed aansloot op de visie van het College.

The migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 initially looks like an easy transition, but in practise turns out to be more complex. Edwin Friesen - New Scense package: hide drives

In addition to the earlier Scense package of Edwin Friesen “User Friendly Drive Name” he decided to make another one that can be useful in your environment too. With this new Scense package you can hide all different kind of drives based on drive letter. Of course your end users can access the drive but it will not be visible within Windows Explorer.
 
Simple select the drives that you want to be visible or not!

At VMworld we had a demo of the products of Scense. They are in the user workspace management. The demo focusses on the problem of one installation corrupting another (application compatibility). Posted by Anne Jan Elsinga. Anne Jan Elsinga is a Consultant for Imtech ICT in the Netherlands. He spends his working hours with a lot of virtualization stuff, from feasibility to implementation for server virtualization/consolidation and desktop virtualization. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 he was awarded with the VMware vExpert status.
